14 years--where did the time go??

Today is Dan and my 14th anniversary. Wow--how time flies. And we couldn't have asked for a better anniversary present than a new addition to our family. Our first full day w/ Xavier has been great--again, way better than expected. I am just waiting for the you know what to hit the fan and for him to realize that we are not just the babysitters. But we did see a tiny, and I really mean tiny, temper tantrum. But I must say, he is the most polite little boy. After we give or do anything for him, there is always a thank you and then when we say thank you--the majority of the time he says--you're welcome.

We kind of hung out a lot at the hotel today, just playing. We also moved rooms to a bigger room. We were originally in a handicap room, which would not normally be a problem, but everything is lower in those rooms so the perfect height for a 2 year old to get into everything!! So we switched rooms and Xavier had a blast riding on the luggage cart. We went and did a little more shopping--so we could eat in the room tonight. Xavier ate a lot tonight--ate noodles, chicken w/ a little bit of spaghetti sauce. Funny, that is Brody's favorite meal too.

It is fun learning aobut his favorite things. I don't even think twice when I order food for Lily or Brody, but I am sure the people at the grocery store must have thought I was crazy when I was trying to pick out popsicles for him. I know Lily's favorite are the yellow ones, and Brody doesn't care, but I had no idea what to get him. I kept asking him, do you like ice cream, tell New Mommy what you like--so I am sure I sounded like a freak!! I figured he would love popsicles b/c Lily and Brody do, but when we gave it to him again--a strange look like what are you giving me, but he ate some of it, didn't love it, but maybe ate about a 1/3 of it. I can't imagine either of the other kids letting a popsicle go to waste.

We are starting to see his preferences and his likes. These are his new "Cars" shoes, and he loves them. We also got him a Cars blanket and sleeping bag. I don't know if he has ever seen the movie, but he loves those shoes, and won't take them off for anything. That is when I saw the tiny tantrum when we were trying to get the shoes off so he could take a bath. He loves the shoes, a new stuffed race car we got at the Bass Pro Shop, and his blue ball. He woke up last night asking for the ball.

Well, Dan is trying to get him to sleep. We got a little blow up mattress and put his sleeping bag on it right next to our bed, and he did great at nap time, so I am hoping I don't have to sleep on the couch again tonight and he will do well.

Thank you all again for your prayers. We are truly blessed. Good night from San Antonio.

Love--
Teri, Dan and Xavier
